What to Do When a Storm Damages Your Fence in Edmond

Oklahoma storms do not give much notice, and a fence is often the first thing to go. One round of straight line wind or a heavy ice load, and a run that looked fine yesterday is flat in the yard this morning. If that has happened to you, here is how to handle it calmly and get things back to normal.
First, Keep Everyone Safe
Before anything else, look for hazards. A downed fence can hide broken boards with exposed nails, and a chain link section can leave sharp edges or loose wire. If a fence post took power lines with it, stay well clear and call the utility. Keep kids and pets inside until you have looked things over.
Close the Gap Temporarily
An open fence means an open yard. If pets or small children use the space, put up a temporary barrier so nobody wanders off while you arrange a repair. A few stakes and some mesh, or even a stretch of caution tape across a gap, buys you time until the real fix happens.
Take Photos Before You Move Anything
If you plan to file an insurance claim, photograph the damage from a few angles before you clean up or move debris. Clear pictures of what came down, and what caused it, make the claim smoother. Save them somewhere you can find them.
Call for a Repair Sooner Than Later
After a big storm, every fence company in the area gets busy at once, so the sooner you call, the sooner you are on the schedule. When you reach out, describe what happened and roughly how much came down. That helps us bring the right materials and, for straightforward jobs, often finish the same day.
Repair or Replace?
Not every storm means a full replacement. If the posts are still sound and only a section of panels or mesh came down, a repair usually puts things right for far less. We will walk the fence with you, show you what we find, and give you an honest recommendation either way.
